Blog CommentsDepending on your blog setting, other people can posts comments to your blog. If you would like to be notified by email whenever anyone posts a comment to your blog, go to Dashboard, click on your blog, and select Settings -> Comments... Then enter your email address in Comment Notification field. Click Save Settings. Then click Republish. Now you will get an email whenever someone leaves a comment on you blog. Viewing CommentsTo view comments posted to your blog, click on the time link that is at the bottom of your blog. This will expand the comments.
Here you see that I got two comments posted to my blog. This first comment is actually a spam post (also known as comment spam). The person (or automated software program) made this post for the sole purpose of putting those two links on web so that people would click on them and increase traffic to their site which contains probably more advertisment or something worst. So DO NOT click on those links. We will delete this comment as soon as possible. The second comment shows that under certain setting, it is possible for someone to post anonymous comments. We will show you later on how to disable this feature. Deleting a Blog CommentBecause the first comment is spam, we should delete it without delay. 1. Login to your dashboard and click into your blog. 2. Click view to view the blog that contains the spam comment. 3. Because you are logged in, you will have the ability to delete comments. Click the trash can icon to delete the spam comment. 4. Then checkmark Remove forever and click the Delete Comment button. 5. You get a confirmation that the comment was deleted. Turning On Word VerificationSpam comments are sometime generated and posted by automated programs. To reduce the amount of spam comment you can turn on Word Verification. Then anyone who wants to post a comment will need to type in verification word they see. Because automated programs are not able to read the word, it prevents them from posting comments. To turn on Word Verification, go to Setting -> Comments ... And select "Yes" to the quesiton "Show word verification for comments?" Remeber to click Save Setting after making changes. Comment ModerationIf you prefer to review the comments before they get posted, you can turn on comment moderation. Enter "Yes" to the question "Enable comment moderation?" And enter your email address. Blogger will email you when someone submits a comment. They you will need to approve the comment before it gets posted. Disabling CommentsMany blogging systems, including Blogger, allow you to disable the commenting feature. If you would rather not allow comments, go to Dashboard, click on Settings, and click the Comments tab. In the "Who Can Comment Question" on that settings page, change the drop list selection to "Only Members of this Blog". Now only you (and other members that you have added) can post comments. No public reader will be able to post comments to your blog entries. Next ...Now that you know how to delete blog comments, learn how to delete a blog entry in the next lesson.
